One of Victoria’s favourite food and wine regions The Mornington Peninsula will be hosting  The Peninsula Picnic again this year on Sunday, March 20th, in the leafy and sea-salted surrounds of Mornington Racecourse.

Chefs from each restaurant have worked together to ensure there is variety in the entire menu, including Charcuterie and Cheese Platters from Merricks General Wine Store, Green Olive’s famous Main Ridge Lamb Meatballs, Ricotta Gnocchi with Braised Pork shoulder from Paringa Estate and to celebrate the stunning coastal location of the picnic Montalto’s signature Grilled Squid in a Ciabatta Roll with Estate Apple and Fennel Slaw.

On the music front, Mornington Peninsula local Ruby Whiting will be getting the day started followed by the rising star Timberwolf along with Powderfinger’s Darren Middleton, Kim Churchill and Missy Higgins.

Multi- Instrumentalist Kim Churchill has been kind enough to delve into his record collection and put together what he calls his “Perfect Picnic Playlist”.

Walk On – Neil Young
I just feel like it’s a got a certain timeless quality that sets your little picnic trip up to be a bit special. Then of course, it’s indicative of walking to wherever you’re going to have your picnic.

Chinese Translation – M. Ward
Once your sitting getting yourself a bit in picnic mode I think this is the perfect piece to bring down to earth.

Diamonds On The Inside – Ben Harper
There’s just nothing better to relax to than that album.

Black Dog – Led Zeppelin
You just cracked your first beer…

Miss You – Rolling Stones
Someone brought a harmonica and is desperate for a bit of attention, so the commandeer the playlist purely for the harmonica line, as it’s the only thing they know (trust me this happens!)

River Man – Nick Drake
You steal playlist back and purge yourself of all that excitement to chill out again.

Bobby Charles – Must Be in a Good Place Now
Because another friend really knows their shit!

Rosanna – Toto
Cracked the 4th beer.

Ben Howard – Old Pine
Someone’s sober partner tried to bring things down a few levels because their beginning to worry about making a scene around the other picnickers.

Bohemian Rhapsody – Queen
It’s about 4 mins away from time to call it and go to the pub…
