American singer-harpist Joanna Newsom, has released her new album Divers today. Coming a decade after her first album from 2004, Joanna has spent the past 10 years humbling exhibiting her multi-talented musicianship.
The first taste from her fourth studio album is “Sapokanikan,” a wonderfully enchanting song that captures her classic folk-harp playing and articulate lyrics. “Sapokanikan” is quintessential of Joanna’s songwriting ability. Rich with meaning, it was the result of more than two months researching into the subjects from American history to the Romantics, then a couple of weeks working on lyrics.
She has also announced she will be bringing her unique and captivating voice to Australia in January 2016. Taking on the East Coast for her fifth Australian visit, Joanna will be gracing the stages of Melbourne’s Hamer Hall, the Sydney Opera House as part of the Sydney Festival Program, and the Queensland Performing Arts Centre.
Divers is out today through Spunk Records.
