Sophie Treloar is the latest artist to join the family at Our Golden Friend, as she embarks on her solo journey as POPPONGENE.

Originally hailing from the picturesque Byron Bay, the Melbourne artist has now set up home in Belgrave as she cultivates POPPONGENE. Treloar, who is also a member of Melbourne’s dreamy Sunbeam Sound Machine, has released her first ever single ‘Do It Girl’. The track quickly cements the direction of POPPONGENE, delivering a dreamy, psychedelic pop-infused experience to listeners. It’s an impeccable introduction to the music world, produced by Skube Burnell (808s and Greatest Hits) and Simon Lam (Kllo, Ills & Nearly Oratorio) and Mikey Young (Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Total Control) lending their mastering and mixing prowess, POPPONGENE’s honeyed lyrics absorb listeners into the gently constructed vivid escapade that is ‘Do It Girl’

The track pulled from POPPONGENE’s upcoming LP is just a taste of what’s to come. She will be retreating back to the hills of Belgrave to finish her LP which is set for release later this year, so watch this space.
