The Internet is filled with artists that for some, may never be discovered. It is up to people like myself (who literally live in the depths of SoundCloud) to let the rest of the world know about the amazing hidden gems. From the smooth electronica of Kllo to the busty and audacious sounds of Client Liason, these five artists are up-comers the world needs to know about – and fast.
Klangstof
You can be excused for this one. Barely anyone is onboard with the name Klangstof as yet, but now is your chance to jump on the bandwagon. The Norwegian producer once played bass in a Dutch band called Moss, now he’s just been signed to the Powerhouse Los Angeles Label, Mind Of A Genius. Just quietly, they are the ones responsible for ZHU and global sensation Gallant. Having a knack for unearthing the very best in hidden or unknown talent, The addition of Klangstof to an already massive Mind Of A Genius roster will only add to labels credibility.
Medasin
If Kaytranada and Mr Carmack’s skills are anything to go by, SoundCloud just may have unearthed another absolute gem. Creatively not afraid to push the boundaries with the elements of electronic music, his sound design is absolutely flawless. With Medasin now a leader of the pack, there are a brigade of unique artists amongst the bustling SoundCloud community just waiting to be heard.
HANA
Gaining a name for herself touring with eclectic songstress Grimes, rest assured that the name HANA is well and truly about to go global. From those serenading vocals, her self-titled debut EP is quite possibly one of the years best. I know so little is said, but trust me — listen to her debut EP and marvel in its vocal brilliance.
Kllo
This Melbourne duo were a pen in for artists you need to know about. Since their track ‘Bolide’ dropped (which has clocked up over one million plays on Spotify), their popularity has skyrocketed. It feels like Melbourne just has a thing for producing great artists at the moment, with it only a matter time before Kllo break the overseas market.
Client Liaison
Look, don’t knock them before you hear them. Client Liaison are reviving the nostalgia for early ‘90s synthesisers, which makes for a damn fine listen. At first this project was perceived as a joke, but full credit to the duo, with it now becoming a huge success. Locally their star continues to rise, with gigs at Groovin The Moo and now just about to embark on a stretch of dates across Australia — Surely it is only a matter of time before Client Liaison throw the rest of the world back into the early ‘90s.
