Gertrude Street Projection Festival Is Back!
Get ready to light up the night when Melbourne’s hipster capital gets even more hip, when the Gertrude Street Projection Festival rolls into town this July! Fitzroy will be illuminated every evening from 6pm until midnight with projections on building exteriors, interiors, shopfronts, lane ways, windows and footpaths in this free 10-day immersive exhibition experience.
Lead by Festival Director Nicky Pastore, and curated by Kym Ortenburg and Yandell Walton, the festival exhibits a diverse mix of projection artists both locally and abroad, solo and collaborative, as well as offering a wide spectrum of performances and interactive community events!
Head to The Festival Hub, this year hosted at The Catfish for live bands, DJs, jam sessions, workshops, theatre performances, and panel talks of both free and ticketed events. Or check out GSPF’s Mentorship Program, a new addition to this year’s festival, which aims to assist young budding artists to produce new works under guidance from well-established practicing projection and new-media artists.
