Returning for the second year in a row, this sonically synthetic and electronically themed festival is coming to town again to pump the tunes, fill the tums, expand the brains and basically change your life by assaulting your senses in multiple ways.
Freedom Time Winter will take place in Melbourne at the Coburg Velodrome on June 30th. Past iterations of the festival have been lauded for their high-energy output, and according to alumni Floating Points you couldn’t “imagine a better use for a velodrome”. It boasts banging music, light-shows, visual art and the best food on offer to satiate the hunger and thirst earnt from dedicated dancing.
There are three music institutions contributing to this event: we have the nostalgic Amsterdam label Music From Memory crew, the mixing madness Melbourne based Butter Sessions and the party inducing crew at Wax’o Dystopio. The line up features the likes of Dopplereffekt with his crazy suite of hard-hitting house harshness, Veronica Vasicka with an entrancing demonstration of how to talk to aliens through synths and Sleep D to wake you right the heck up just in case you forgot your afternoon nap. Other artists joining the crew are Pjenne‘s awesome assemblage of chilled out Caribbean tunes, Millu with a brand of subterranean sonic ventures and Turner Street Sound with some excellent sporadic and tectonic percussion.
Now that the sounds are settled, the John Fish collective are back at it again to bring the lights! A maelstrom of an LED extravaganza is sure to be delivered by the crew as they work with the aural elements and the natural elements to elevate the experience.
Loads of food and beverages will also be provided to keep your energy going throughout, and offer you a chance to take a break and relax a bit.
