The Australian Music Prize has announced the initial shortlisted albums in the running to be crowned winners of the 10th annual Coopers backed prize.
The prestigious prize sees the act or artist pocket $30,000 for their troubles, as well as adding to the list of high acclaimed previous winners including Hermitude, The Jezabels and Lisa Mitchell.
Last year saw Melbourne duo Big Scary capitalise on their critically acclaimed LP Not Art to nudge out other stellar releases from the likes of Dialectrix, Cloud Control, Jagwar Ma and Jen Cloher, to name a few.
Among the nominees for the prizes 10th incarnation, prominent electro/soul talent Chet Faker with his debut LP Built On Glass, Melbourne fresh faced MC Remi with Raw X Infinity, and hard hitting Brisbane outfit DZ Deathrays with Black Rat.
