Having filed The Goon Sax under artists not to miss at Bigsound 2015 earlier in the year, there’s little surprise that the teenage trio have hooked me once again. Taking a step back from the warm shamble-pop of  ‘Sometimes Accidentally’, ‘Boyfriend’ marks the jittery and boisterous microdrama The Goonies materialise. Performed with signature woozy vocals and crooked rock tones, each chord hiccups along their pouty but honest lyrics, “And we can break your heart, so you’d see how I feel“. With crescendos building up toward each breath and beat, ‘Boyfriend’ is a track to satisfy your memories of awkward, unrequited crushes that still remain strangely peachy.

With their debut set to release in 2016 through Chapter Music, there’s no doubt more eyes are turning to Louis Forster, James Harrison and Riley Jones as they continue to deliver their sweet, slow-burning sound. With a little sleep in their eyes, the trio remain on the forefront of new indie-rock releases from the Chapter family, their youth only adding body and charm. As noted on their Soundcloud, #Teen Strum & Drum always.
