Back for another killer year, Face The Music brings a plethora of knowledgeable members of the music industry to Melbourne in November. Aiming to inspire forward thinking and change the conversation, the music industry summit has enlisted some of the most influential names in the music biz for their first round announcement. Further focusing on the development of international relationships, Face The Music will also host big names from across the seas.
On this list is music critic aficionado Anthony Fantano or otherwise known as ‘The Needle Drop’. Gracing our shores for the second time, the American is famous for his tremendously popular YouTube videos, reminding you exactly what you love and hate about music criticism.
Also on the bill is chief curator of Bandcamp, Andrew Jervis. After 15 years of experience in A&R, Jervis applies that experience to label and artist outreach for the music discovery site. Having an extensive knowledge in up and coming artists and new music, the veteran can tell you whats hot and whats about to be ‘hotter’.
A name we’ve heard on the airwaves more than once since 2007; the Triple J legend Zan Rowe will also be sharing words. With a focus on discovering new music and in-depth conversations with its creators throughout her shows, the breakfast radio host has become an Australian radio icon.
Accompanying these names will be Ricki Askin (VICE media), Nai Palm (Hiatus Kaiyote), Lorrae McKenna (Remote Control) and Taylor Brode (Sacred Bones). The 2 -day industry summit will run in conjunction with Melbourne Music Week, so keep your eyes and ears peeled for shows by your beloved favourites and your next musical obsession.
