Art and film buffs unite, Sutton Gallery’s newest exhibition is about to blow your mind.

Local Artist Arlo Mountford is bringing his Galaxy Express Exhibition to Melbourne’s Sutton Gallery this month, featuring his new film that re-animates Yoshinori Kanada’s closing sequence to the 1979 Japanese anime ‘Galaxy Express 999.’

Accompanied by a number of sculptural works, Mountford intends to question and legitimise the contemporary interpretation of art history.

By Redrawing and recreating works by famous contemporary artists such as Damien Hurst and Atsuko Tanaka, Mountford intends for the audience to decipher the heavily loaded imagery with a specific emphasis of art from the perspective of Japanese avant-garde and anime culture.
