Now you’ve passed the test, tell us how old were you when you started making music, and has it changed much since then?
I remember it real vividly – I was 13 and my nephew left his one stringed, broken, little acoustic lying around the house, I picked it up and wrote a little melodic riff on it.. It sparked something in my head and I realized I really got off on expressing myself through melody.
I hope a lot has changed between then and now…I’m definitely not writing on broken half sized acoustics anymore but I’m not opposed to it either.
Describe your sound to someone who’s never heard it before in five words or less.
‘Piano heavy acoustic pretty tunes’, right?
Who inspires you, musically?
Everything and Everyone. There are definitely people who resonate with me more than others like Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen, James Murphy, Julian Casablancas, Nina Simone, Sam Cooke, David Byrne…but…I’m a consumer…everything.
What was the first record you ever bought with your own money?
I wish I had something cool to say here…but…I think it was POD.
Why did you get rid of the ‘oberts’ in your surname?
Ohhh quite the contrary, I got rid of the ‘aymond’…Edward Raymond being my middle names.
What can we expect to see from you at Citizens Of The Streets?
