South African born with Sri Lankan Heritage, Ecca Vandal’s parents left South Africa after Apartheid in the late 80s. After settling in Melbourne, Vandal sunk her teeth into jazz at an early age before discovering the intoxicating world of hip hop and the DIY spirit of punk rock. Bjork is a musical hero, Miles Davis is an all-time favourite, and Mr Bungle and Fugazi led her to the tumult of Deftones and Meshuggah.  All of which clearly shows in her musical stylings.

Now with Ecca Vandal making and releasing her own music, she has certainly commanded that people take notice off her.  Vandal first caught the attention of Australia in 2014, when she released White Flag which was instantly added to rotation on triple j.

Now diving headfirst into 2015, Ecca Vandal has revealed her second single ‘Battle Royal’, on which all instruments on the track were recorded by Ecca and collaborator Kidnot and was co-produced and mixed by the combo in conjunction with Hadyn Buxton.

To celebrate the release of the second single Vandal has announced some long awaited live dates. Rumour has it, that she has only played one other show….
