Perth native and Syllaboliks member Drapht has released the new, illustrative video for his latest single ‘Dancin’ John Doe’.

Directed by Ben Young, the cheerful, upbeat track features the dancing talents of Russell Thorpe. Incorporating a 1930s black and white film aesthetic, the video perfectly captures the fun-free spirit of the track.

“My partner at the time Louise was a contemporary dancer, and I went and watched a piece she had choreographed, that herself and a friend of hers Russell were performing in. The night ended up planting a seed in my psyche and it wasn’t until a few months down the track while tracking ‘Dancin’ John Doe’ did it all come to the forefront. I thought Russell would be an incredible fit with his dance style to express my lyrics and punchlines with movement throughout the songs entirety, with the help of some quirky animation to lighten the mood and help deliver the impact of the song’s lyrics.

The video release follows the announcement of Drapht’s 2015 headlining tour, with supporting acts The FunkoarsI Am D (Brisbane), Ellesquire (Sydney), Eloji (Melbourne), Coins Banks (Perth)and K21 (Adelaide).
