Detroit hip-hop legends Slum Village have just announced a sideshow at The Basement in Sydney, to their headline appearance at Melbourne’s Let Them Eat Cake festival. 20 years deep into the game, original member T3 and relatively new member and producer Young RJ have deep repertoire featuring classic hits produced by J Dilla, Pete Rock, D’Angelo, Black Milk, Kanye West, and Hi Tek.
The visit is off the back of their new album Yes! released earlier this year featuring nine unreleased tracks by the late J Dilla and guest performances by De La Soul, Bilal and Phife Dawg.
If Slum Village weren’t quite enough to convince you to continue you New Years party into consecutive days, Australian rapper Briggs will also be spitting rhymes. Briggs broke onto the scene in 2009 with his exceptional self-released debut Homemade Bombs and has since worked industry icons such as Gurrumul, Hilltop Hoods, Funkoars and more.
But wait there’s more! Conkarah will also be joining the party and bringing his roots, rock and reggae vibes, if you haven’t heard his cover of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud’ do yourself a favour and check it out here.
You can also catch Soul Benefits, Wallace, Yum Yum DJs Frenzie & AdVerse.
