In his new video, Remi doesn’t seem to be able to escape his demons. His new single ‘Substance Therapy’, with musical partner Sensible J, tackles the topic of drug abuse and depression with the sound of a comedown. Remi describes depression as a “demon in a scream mask, brandishing a hunting knife”. In his new music video, we can see exactly that. Remi attempts to outrun his demons with all his might and they seem to catch up to him easily. Lyrics portraying the substance escapes of life are reflected in seemingly otherwise easy going happy-go-lucky Remi.
“Those who know me can vouch for this, weigh my problems in weed, say bout an ounce for this” a dark nod to Snoop Dogg’s ‘Gin and Juice’. Tied back together with “Go too much, pride to cry, for assistance, So I party all the time, Rick james bitch”. A self-explanatory description of the cycle of substance abuse and depression.
‘Substance Therapy’ also promotes Remi’s forthcoming LP ‘Divas and Demons’, due for release in September on House Beige.
