UK bred lads Circa Waves have unveiled a brand new track in the lead up to their forthcoming, highly awaiting LP, Different Creatures.

Expect a noticeably grittier offering in Creatures, but prepare yourself for the same classy indie rock that captured Australia’s hearts following the release of Young Chasers  in 2014.

The band re-establishes themselves with brand new track ‘Wake Up’, which has already premiered as part of Annie Mac’s Hottest Record In The World in the UK, as well as being given its Australian radio nod on Triple J.

Kieren Shudall is not only the front man of the Liverpool quartet, but also the co-producer of the single along with Alan Moulder ((Arctic Monkeys, Foals, Killers, Foo Fighters, Royal Blood, NIN). With the band having influences such as Queens of the Stoneage and Arctic Monkeys, you can expect a unique sound with walls of fuzzed guitars jostling for space with Shudall’s trademark melodies.

Shudall says of the new single “‘Wake Up’ is a big and bold way to start. It shows we’re not messing around anymore”. He also notes that after the success of Young Chasers, he found a new perspective on his songwriting, which has, in turn, matured the band as a whole. The success has also encouraged them to evolve rather than rest on their laurels. “When I saw the way that people connected with it I really started to believe in myself. I’m a different person now – I feel like I’ve got a fire in my belly with this record”, adds Shudall.

Make sure you keep your eye out for the March 10 release of Different Creatures, which showcases a general sense of disenchantment as the band tackles weightier subject matter against the backdrop of a louder and more forceful sound.

Here’s a throwback with the fellas:
