We all know the west coast produces a lot of good, raw musical talent. So what better idea then to bundle all that creative energy into a festival, situated on the WA Day long weekend. Hello SOTA Fest, nice to see you again.
This year SOTA, or State of the Art Music Festival, has gone all out, boasting shows from Birds of Tokyo, You AM I, The Scientists, Downsyde, Katy Steele, Timothy Nelson & The Inifedels and Boom! Bap! Pow! All talents shown in the festival are WA born and bred, so you are bound to hear the animated roar of hometown crowds – and for visitors, the ticket prices are ecstatically low, enough to make anyone feel welcome.
For $55 (plus booking fee), attendees will be given access to the WA Museum Stage, Urban Orchard Stage, and the State Theatre Centre of WA’s courtyard.
All venues are situated within the buzzing Perth Cultural Arts Centre, a great space that has been host to Laneway Festival, Fringe Festival, and the like.
The festival aims to offer something for everyone, spanning eras and genres, from fresh to established talent.
The event, falling on Saturday the 30th of May, will also include two stages free to the public, with the addition of over 35 acts to the bill. The PICA Stage and the Wetlands Stage will boast WA music for families and music fanatics to enjoy over a glass of red.
The wine unfortunately you’ll have to pay for.
Tickets can be found at the official SOTA Fest website here.
