It’s an unfortunate announcement, but Catfish and the Bottlemen won’t be making it down here in Australia this week to fulfil their Splendour In The Grass main stage appearance and sold out Melbourne and Sydney sideshows. It comes just hours before Splendour kicks off, with eager festival-goers making their way to the music festival. The band’s management have published an official statement on the band’s socials:
“It is with huge regret that, due illness in the band and crew, Catfish and the Bottlemen will not be playing their planned shows this week in Australia and Japan; including Splendour in the Grass and Fuji Rocks festivals. The band are obviously absolutely devastated not to be making the trip and hope fans will understand. For the band’s headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney, please contact your point of purchase for refund details.”
While we can only wish for a speedy recovery and a warm future welcome, the question is: who will replace the band? And more importantly will another Lorde phenomena occur?
*Edit: DZ DEATHRAYS HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED AS REPLACEMENT ACT FOR SPLENDOUR.
