The 2015 Carlton Dry AIR Awards were held last night, showcasing the brightest and shiniest of Australia’s independent musicians and folk in the biz. Not surprisingly Courtney Barnett was one of the big winners, taking out Best Independent Artist, Best Independent Album for Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit, as well as Best Independent Single for ‘Depreston’. It’s the second year in a row that the Melbourne singer/song writer has won Best Independent Artist and Best Independent Single.
#1 Dads walked away with Breakthrough Independent Artist Of The Year with Seth Sentry taking out the Best Independent Hip Hop Album. Flight Facilities, C.W Stoneking and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard all received awards for their work with MILK! Records taking home the Best Independent Label award.
