Stopping by the Triple J Like A Version studio Friday morning, In Hearts Wake amid their Regional Badlands Tour tackled fellow Byron Bay locals Parkway Drive’s ‘Vice Grip’. Building upon Parkway’s ambient melodies only further by harnessing the clean vocals of Kyle Erich, whimsically the band transformed the brutality of the original track into a rawness fuelled acoustic journey, that whisked listeners into another realm for its entirety.
Additionally this mornings studio session also featured a hauntingly reworked rendition of their original song ‘Wildflower’ which served as tear-jerking showcase of their own eloquent lyricism and musicianship.
The past 18 months has seen the band release two full-length studio albums, both of which were largely met with critical acclaim amid a top-secret double-album brainchild of a collective that have quickly etched their mark into the Australian Heavy music scene.
This appearance on Like A Version comes in time for the announcement that they are the first confirmed band on the 2016 UNIFY festival bill, which is set to be build on last year’s success promising a bigger line up and infusion of some international acts.
With its debut in 2015 selling out within three hours, 2016’s festival is set to be more monumental than the last, cementing itself as one of the most largely anticipated and not to be missed events on the Australian Heavy music calendar.
