Melbourne singer/songwriter Ben Wright Smith has today announced the release of new single ‘Born Yawning’ which gives his twangy guitar-dominated folk a rock-n-roll edge with grittier guitar riffs.
The budding folk singer has been pricking ears across the board both locally and internationally of late, after previous single ‘No One’ was released earlier this year, gaining him full rotation airplay on Triple J, a sell-out Melbourne show and a heap of new fans.
Pieced together in Daylesford and recorded at Melbourne’s The Aviary, the single features fellow Melbournite and long-time collaborative force Ali Barter on backing vocals, and was once again produced by Holy Holy guitarist Oscar Dawson via his new label ‘Ronnie Records‘.
After supporting the likes of D.D Dumbo, Holy Holy and Bertie Blackman, as well as jet setting to the U.S for a couple of appearances at Nashville’s Americana Festival, Ben Wright Smith is currently lined up to play a heap of shows and festivals over the coming weeks, including the Tawoomba Carnival Of Flowers and Brisbane’s Bigsound 2015 music conference.
Wright Smith will launch ‘Born Yawning’ at Sydney’s Brighton Up Bar after upcoming support shows subside in October.
