Get the sunscreen, make sure you know where your children are, wear appropriate safeguards to withstand the soil in the wind, and prepare those wide-brimmed hats (ref: Angela Lansbury for inspiration), it will be a sunny day off the shore at Queenscliff Music Festival 2015.
Come the last weekend of November, that is the 27th to the 29th, Queenscliff will erupt again in a festival that celebrates Australian Music and the Arts collectively. Getting us all a little excited, the team have dropped the first line up announcement to shake the pennies out of our wallet. A family friendly event that lumps the seasoned veterans in with the fresh bait of talent, the festival is commemorating their 19th year with a bang, superstar duo Angus and Julia Stone announced as the headline act.
Back from their European festival circuit, playing big sets at Coachella, and steamrolling their self-titled tertiary album at the end of the last year, the pair has been a busy duo. Against the picturesque port of Victoria’s Bellarine Peninsula however, it will be like home soil, and a well-deserved stage for the two to chill out and serenade us with their dream-like folk sensibilities.
Let’s remember, it will be the start of summer. Forget the current frostbite, the thought of these guys under the sun and off the coast is making my toes tingle.
Joining the line-up are Aussie legends Hoodoo Gurus, the captivating Kate Miller-Heidke, and the still sexy Paul Dempsey. As well as the acclaimed John Williamson, Robert Foster, Melbourne Ska Orchestra, Harts, Kingfisha, Oka, Ainslie Wills and Hey Frankie. Although the full line-up has yet to be announced, I wouldn’t waste any time in scoring your spot – Early bird tickets can be found on the QMF website. Enjoy the peninsula in style, I know I will.
