Finally in what feels like forever, an all Warhol exhibition is finally returning to Australian shores!
Andy Warhol’s Jewish Geniuses, a temporary exhibition at the Jewish centre in Melbourne showcases some of his most famous screen prints, exemplifying the idea and irony of the celebrity.
The exhibition is a 10 concert series, with screen prints of some of the most famous faces in the 20th Century, producing silkscreens of individuals such as Sigmund Freud, Albert Einstein and The Marx Brothers.
The exhibition intends to question his depiction of the celebrity and how we receive these images of famous Jewish figures today.
The exhibition is also paired with an accompanying contemporary art response, Warhol Now.
