Originally hailing from Geelong and now comfortably settled in Melbourne’s northern suburbs, emerging electronic/soul artist Annika Schmarsel has just released her second single under the moniker Alice Ivy, aptly titled ‘Mean Man’s Bite’ (ft Chloe Beckwith).

The upbeat soul-infused house track oozes funk and charm, and comes at a timely pace after the release of her first single ‘Charlie’, which you can find here.

Featuring the sultry smooth sounds of local soul/jazz singer and ex-Sweethearts member Chloe Beckwith, ‘Mean Man’s Bite’ kicks off with a cacophony of 70s style organs, blaring soprano horns and screeching vocal samples, before settling into a comfortably upbeat old-school soul feel comprised of original vocals and guitar and supplemented by a careful selection of samples.

The release of ‘Mean Man’s Bite’ coincides with the first Alice Ivy launch party which will be kicking off this Saturday 2nd May at Little & Olver on Brunswick st Fitzroy. Get down to see the girl in action and in the meantime download ‘Mean Man’s Bite’ off the Alice Ivy soundcloud page, or alternatively give her Facebook page your support here.
