A pioneer of the digital cumbia genre, DJ, producer and composer Chancha Vía Circuito mashes-up and remixes dance-club reinterpretations of Afro-Colombian melodies and is a unique artist on the bill for the 10th edition of Strawberry Fields in 2018.
The genre ‘digital cumbia’ takes inspiration from many different elements including dub, murgas, downtempo and the resulting soundscape is computer elements with chanting mixed and indigenous behop over electro samples. Pretty cool, right? Hailing from Argentina, Chancha’s roots clearly have paved the way for fusion of electronic and folkloric elements and his live show is sure to killer.
Chancha recently gave Speaker TV a list of his top tunes of this year.
