Today’s Track of the Day is ‘Pinch Hitter’, the brand new song by Melbourne based lo-fi raucous rockers SPIT. The track comes fresh off a split tape with fellow locals, Shiny Coin.

SPIT are a band that lives in the past, in the best possible way, carrying the guitar flag of the 90s well into the new millennia.

With a strung-out tone feeding through the track, Pinch Hitter’ is one for the new generation of disenfranchised youth. Opening with a sense of anxiousness, ‘Pinch Hitter’ climbs from its moody beginnings to singable lyrics, seamlessly shared by both female and male band members. In true fashion, SPIT have kept it DIY with this fuzzy, yet distinctive tape-based recording, only adding to the track’s down-beat demeanour.

‘Pinch Hitter’ drags you through the mundane conflict of everyday life, while giving a nod of appreciation to the slight glimmer of light facing you at the end. Make sure you catch SPIT along with fellow split release contributors, Shiny Coin, at The Tote on Saturday August 12.
