Hip-hop artist Charlie Threads has released ‘Head In The Clouds’ off of his upcoming EP Rainy Weather Music, and it oozes such a sense of authenticity you’ll be convinced he grew up living the thug life, rather than life in suburban Melbourne.
Beginning his career cooped up in a bungalow with a broken ankle, Charlie Threads developed his distinctive style from the comfort of a wheelchair. His first album release Palm Trees In Graveyards was a beautifully haunting glimpse into his young but wise mind and gained him international recognition. In his short but impressive career, Charlie Threads has seen the spotlight at festivals such as Groovin The Moo, Splendour In The Grass, Pitch, and has featured on a track with young Melbournian musos Alice Ivy and E^ST on ‘Get Me A Drink’ just to name some of his accolades.
The track features a heavy and ground shaking bassline, intricate and delicate hi hats and percussion, and a haunting ambient synthesizer. At just 18 years old, it is expected that Charlie Threads will soon be standing alongside the artists he draws so much influence from. Give it a listen – we’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again – this guy is one to watch.
