Fresh out of the Northern Territory and a hip-hop hero in the making, Birdz presents his latest single ‘This Side‘.
In his catchy new tune, Birdz celebrates diversity in both our communities, and his musical abilities. A collaboration with pop artist and Northern Territory counterpart Sarina Pech, the duo have created a smooth, bouncy soundscape that’s goes down easy, but maintains enough grit in its provocative lyrics to make you think.
Set in the streets of Melbourne, the accompanying music video to ‘This Side‘ takes us through an urban exploration of the city’s lesser known communities, celebrating what brings us together and makes us unique.
The word “political” is a pretty loose adjective these days, and Birdz is another involuntary recipient. Past anthems like ‘Black Lives Matter‘ have helped associate his name with the tag, and with good reason, but deep down, it seems to me Birdz is far more concerned with community than the overbearing nature of politics.
