Melbourne afro-beat septet The Seven Ups released their sophomore record Drinking Water only a few weeks ago. To celebrate the release, they will be playing a special show at The Evelyn Hotel in Melbourne, before embarking up the east coast to take the celebrations back to the warmer north.
The Seven Ups self titled debut record cemented the band’s reputation for blending 1970’s Nigerian afro beat with deep funk grooves. Their performance history includes numerous tours up and down the east coast, playing an array of festivals including Rainbow Serpent, Sydney Road Street Festival and Come Together Festival, as well as opening for the legendary Charles Bradley (USA) and local legends, The Bamboos.
