Black Bird Hum have just released the instantly catchy reggae tune ‘Down’ – a perfect primer for their upcoming tour.
The track kicks off with an airy and rhythmic tempo, that contrasts with the coarse lead vocals. The reggae banger is strongly reminiscent of breezy, summer days and is the perfect beat to have a boogie to.
Black Bird Hum describe themselves as a party reggae, horn-step supergroup, hailing from sunny Sydney. The nine-man band achieve ultimate cohesion through their tunes, while also creating music integral to Australia’s flourishing reggae scene. Their energetic live shows have scored them legions of fans and seen them dubbed as a favourite at music festivals. The band has previously performed with Arrested Development (USA), The Melbourne Ska Orchestra, Kingfisha, Six60 (NZ), King Tide, The Strides, Bobby Alu, Georgia Fair, and Kooyeh.
Through ‘Down,’ the band’s groovy and melodic message is clear. The track is both memorable and emblematic of the summer spirit while remaining light-hearted throughout.
Nish Manjunath says the track “is a huge release for us, it’s the first track we’re releasing from a bunch of songs we co-wrote as an entire band. That’s 8 of us in a room working on the songs together. It was awesome, being locked away in the Southern Highlands of NSW and has had a huge impact on our sound.”
The band will be touring across the east coast, and their 11 show tour will be on the road until November, ending with an epic hometown show.
