“Rare Lemonade” is the first glimpse at Melbourne songwriter Tammy Haider’s forthcoming debut solo album, The One.
Inspired by a Tinder date gone wrong (we’ve all been there, amiright?) “Rare Lemonade” showcases Haider’s vulnerable and honest vocals laid over a subdued guitar accompanied by other-worldly keys. They make the listener feel more like a confidant than observe – you feel connected with Haider.
Listening to the song, you can feel the melding of the organic songwriting of Haider and the experimental production of Kennie Takahashi. A sharp yet balanced song, ‘Rare Lemonade’ is the manifestation of someone not only content with isolation , but utilising it creatively.
“It’s how I make sense of my life”, Haider explains. “I know I can write a good song, that’s a really powerful thing – I’m blessed I can do that. I like taking myself away, not being around people.”
Having left her much loved ambient/alt.country duo Royalchord behind in Berlin, Haider circled back to Melbourne with a well received EP, Genuine Feeling; a bridge between Royalchord and her long awaited upcoming solo debut, The One.
Also announced today, The One will be released in November on Gaga Music. Check out the track list below.
