December Baby is the moniker of Brisbane based singer-songwriter Renee Jury. Today, we’re ecstatic to be premiering the video for her brand new single ‘Jimmy Choos.‘
Following up on the strength of her 2016 EP Beneath The Surface, ‘Jimmy Choos’ sees December Baby laying bare her pop sensibilities. There is a theatrical quality to the track, and it boasts a quirky, carefree, sunny attitude. The video puts Rene in the position of a cliche 1950’s housewife, who detests her standing and expresses her anguish through laying waste to an apple pie, perving through a male pin-up magazine, and destroying flowers. The commentary of a woman rejecting societal norms thrust upon her is bold, and sits in an interesting contrast with the bubbly tune.
Check out the video, created by four talented film students from SAE Institute in Brisbane – Kate Jorgensen, Demi Bird, Brielle O’Mullane, and Kaydee Ball – for ‘Jimmy Choos’ below, and follow December Baby on Facebook here.
