Melbourne-via-Albury band The Northern Folk promise an entertaining take over of our Instagram on Wednesday as they complete a string of dates for their ‘Get On’ single tour.
The eleven-piece outfit deliver indie pop and alt-country mash-ups full of charismatic charm and energy that seem to lift them high above the stratosphere and beyond. In fact, their latest single ‘Get On’ encourages just that in the brand new film clip out today.
Directed by Callum Goodes and shot in the pleasant surrounds of Clifton Hill roadsides, indoor workshops and suburban cardboard spacecraft, the video for ‘Get On’ shares the same crafty and playful exterior that the band embraces live, as well as the driven vitality that they portray on record, making for the perfect visual encapsulation of their sound.
“The clip tells the story of a hermit frustrated with the world and going to some absurd lengths to escape it all, egged on by the band,” the collective said of the ‘Get On’ film clip.
Having just wrapped up a residency at Collingwood’s The Gasometer which included the ‘Get Out’ single launch, The Northern Folk will take to Sydney, Newcastle and the Dorrigo Folk & Bluegrass Festival over the next week.
With the release of their most focused song to date in ‘Get Out’, their Sydney gig at Brighton Up Bar is sure to be one not to be missed. That’s why Speaker TV and The Northern Folk are bringing the show to a phone near you.
