Hazel English‘s dreamy new single ‘Love Is Dead’ is the latest teaser for her upcoming double EP Just Give In/Never Going Home which comes out May 12. Never Going Home was released late last year separately as a single EP and has been streamed almost 7 million times. Three previously unheard tracks will feature on the new double release.
If the new single is anything to go by then it should be well worth the wait. ‘Love Is Dead‘s infectious chorus makes it nearly impossible not to sing along and is backed up by some spacey reverberated guitars and synthesisers. Although the title would suggest a more sombre tone, the track is actually quite energetic and playful compared to her previously released singles ‘Fix’ and ‘More Like You’. It sounds like a Californian summer classic rather than a typical indie-pop song, so it’s no surprise that English has spent the majority of her time in America touring and writing the EP. An incredible song which is well worth more than one listen.
2016 was a hugely successful year for English, playing sold out venues across the UK, North America and Australia as well as having songs played on Triple J and BBC Radio 1. She is touring Europe throughout May but no dates have been released yet in her native Australia. You can keep updated on her Facebook and Twitter.
