When we heard Slowly Slowly’s new track Ivy on the Fence Line, we were sitting anywhere but on the fence. The boys from Melbourne have had a rather busy year so far, finishing their slew of Summer gigs with a sold out show at Fitzroy’s renowned Worker’s Club and released the first sample of forthcoming sophomore record Dinosaurs.
Along with the track, the Melbourne act also gave us a clip and a small tour announcement to launch the new tune. The track itself is both refreshing for the band, but also gives you exactly what you expect from them. Sounding like a conversation and quite lyrically complex, it has more of an anthemic build than you might be used to. The boys have kept their gloomy melancholic flavour and gritty guitar work, but dropped the pop and up’d the rock. Its perfect. Despite their name, the band are quickly quickly making a big impact on the Melbourne scene and scoring huge airplay time on Triple J.
