Sydney’s recent decline in live music venues has made it more difficult for NSW rock bands to perform gigs. Rock music is being dubbed ‘too hard’ for the Sydney music scene.
To give the industry a boost and help out NSW rock bands, Victorian Bitter and FBi Radio have paired up for their VB Hard Yards event. The event will lend a helping hand in finding those hidden bands making killer music, all while bringing Sydney’s rock community together.
Not only will VB Hard Yards give rock bands a leg up, but there are also heaps of perks to be won. The three finalist bands will receive mentoring from Cosmic Psychos, and will also get to perform with them in November. The winner will score a $3,000 cash prize and recording and mixing time in a studio. All with a little bit of help from the Cosmic Psychos and FBi Radio’s music director, Amelia Jenner.
Ross Knight, Aussie rock legend from Cosmic Psychos, says VB Hard Yards is “an initiative for hardworking, NSW musos who need a bit of hand.”
Applications are open until 22 September. Bands need to be independent, over 18 and NSW residents able to make it to Sydney for a gig.
