Its been far too long since we’ve has heard from Gorillaz. The world’s most successful animated band, the brainchild of Blur‘s Damon Albarn, released their last record Plastic Beach way back in 2010. That record didn’t quite hit the highs of its predecessor of 2005’s Demon Days, but if their new track ‘Hallelujah Money’ is anything to go by, the new record may be a much awaited return to form for the virtual heroes.

The song is a mesmerising and dense number featuring a vocal performance that is soulful and attention grabbing from Benjamin Clementine. Lush soundscapes and 808 drums populate the number, and the vocal from Damon Albarn takes you right back to ‘Feel Good Inc’, with the same slightly distorted effect on his voice.

Check out the gorgeous video for the song below – and please listen to this one alone, with headphones – it deserves your full attention.
