The time has come, folks! The warmer weather is here and festival season is rapidly approaching. Running from 28 December to 1 January, Beyond The Valley is an epic way to celebrate the New Year – and there’s a heap of awesome acts to help you bring in 2018. To celebrate the festival being just around the corner, here are five unmissable acts playing at Beyond the Valley.
Matt Corby
Oh, be still our beating hearts. Matt Corby has definitely evolved from his Australian Idol days. His gravely voice and soulful lyrics are the ultimate way to get you in your zen-mode these summer holidays. While his better known songs are ‘Brother’ and ‘Resolution,’ it’s worth looking towards his lesser known tracks as well. ‘Sooth Lady Wine’ has the perfect jazzy influence and melodic rhythm throughout.
Sampa the Great
A badass queen like no other, Sampa the Great originates from Zambia and redefines typical rap music. Preaching girl power while also producing some serious bangers, her tracks will have you boogying in the warm weather; on the drive there, during, and for weeks after. Since winning The Plot in 2015, Sampa the Great is taking the typically male-dominated rap scene by storm. ‘Blue Boss’ epitomises her energy and is the perfect song to get you hyped up for Beyond the Valley.
Meg Mac
After dropping her album Low Blows this July, Meg Mac has become a highly anticipated act to see this festival season. Her immediately distinct voice shines through all her songs, each holding their own unique messages of strength and love. And just imagine, if she sounds this good recorded – her live performance at Beyond The Valley will be sure to set epic standards. After the awesome success of her tracks ‘Roll Up Your Sleeves’ and ‘Never Be,’ her song ‘Didn’t Wanna Get So Low But I Had To’ shows a more complex, raw side to Meg Mac.
Cut Copy
Freshly debuting their new album Haiki From Zero last month, Cut Copy is back with a whole new sound. Exhibiting some lo-fi sound and upbeat tunes throughout their tracks, this will be the perfect gig to get you grooving at Beyond The Valley. ‘Standing In The Middle Of The Field’ is the ultimate track to listen to pre-festival – not only because of its namesake. The song is strongly reminiscent of summer vibes and is guaranteed to lift your spirits for the summer season.
Marek Hemmann
For something a bit more electronic at the festival, check out Marek Hemmann. Funky and vibrant, his music is the perfect way to bring in the New Year while dancing with your mates. Describing his music as both groovy house and innovative techno, Marek Hemmann is a German musician. His beats will have you pumping the whole way through the festy!
