Clubfeet are one of the few acts who stick out in Australia’s burgeoning dance scene, and they continue to make their mark with new single ‘Canyons‘ off their anticipated, upcoming EP Deep Thoughts. The band, who have managed to build a tight fanbase from earlier releases Gold on Gold and Heirs & Graces (the latter spawning hits like ‘Heartbreak‘ featuring synth-popper Chela and ‘Everything You Wanted‘), have decided to go back to a more minimalist, stripped back angle with their new music.
‘Canyons’ is representative of Clubfeet‘s new direction to a less studio-centric sound, constructing beats from the roots of the rhythm and bassline first. The result is a dance tune that knows how to come in and out at the right moments; a song not stifled in thick layers of synth and bass.
The four-track EP on which ‘Canyons‘ lies, Deep Thoughts, also brings together collaborations with the likes of co-producer Beni Single from Onelove as well as mixer Eric J, who has worked with Aussie music legends Flight Facilities and Chet Faker. These stark but steady club tunes are set to hit the public Friday January 27, available for pre-order via iTunes.
