After a five-year Hiatus, Brother Ali will be back on may 5th with his new album All The Beauty in This Whole Life. Ali is recognised on a global scale for his socially conscious and very personal brand of hip-hop.
The album will consist of 15 tracks that Ali believes chronicles the most recent chapter of his life “Each of my albums are the result of the pain, growth and eventual healing that I experience. Articulating the pain and navigating the healing allows the people who really feel my music to travel with me. It’s not only that we hurt together, we heal together as well.”
Ali explores all aspects of self and society in his latest effort, from his origins as both a rapper and a Muslim (‘pen to paper’) to the suicides of his father and grandfather (‘out of here’). Socially, he talks about complex issues such as pornography, technology and the social construct of race.
“This entire album is based on the reality that beauty is the splendour of truth” says the Minneapolis-born MC, “Every word and note of this album is intended to either reflect beauty or expose the ugliness that blocks us from living lives of meaning.”
In an attempt to speak to a divided America, Ali believes his album carries an important message “In times of great suffering in the outside world, the most important battles start from within.”
