Friend of Speaker TV Andreas Florez’s EP Delusions of Grandeur was dropped early last year, shortly after he was diagnosed with leukaemia. Now, a year after his passing on 31 August 2016, a fundraising concert is being held for the Andreas Florez Travel Scholarship For Artistic Excellence.
Delusions of Grandeur follows Andreas Florez’s musings on life and his journey, and features tracks like ‘Some Kind of Miracle’ and his favourite song, ‘I’d Show You.’
Organised by his family, the scholarship was launched with RMIT to support budding musicians with their travel and tuition fees. Recipients of the scholarship will receive $10,000, and combines Andreas Florez’s two passions of music and travel. The fundraising concert will take place on 2 September to celebrate Andreas Florez’s music legacy. All proceeds will go directly towards the scholarship.
The night will kick off at 6pm, and will feature dinner, wines, a silent auction, raffle prizes, and an extensive lineup. The People, a Melbourne based indie rock band, which Andreas Florez used to play in, will be performing some of their own music as well as tracks off his EP. Solquemia, Colombian musician Oscar Jimenez, Daniel Vogl and Alexandra Lidgerwood will also be taking to the stage during the fundraiser.
Limited edition vinyl copies of Andreas Florez’s Delusions of the Grandeur will also be available for purchase, to continue sharing his music with the world.
