For the second time this year, A Weekend In The Gardens will descend on Melbourne for three mini-festivals in November, with Paul Kelly, Illy and Missy Higgins headlining the evenings. Held in the beautiful space of the Royal Botanic Gardens, the concerts will take place on Friday 17 November, Saturday 18 November and Sunday 19 November.
The Friday show has already been snapped up rapidly, undoubtedly due to the dream line-up. One of Australia’s finest songwriters, Paul Kelly, will ensure your ‘Life Is Fine’. Along with Kelly, American Grammy-award winner Steve Earle will have you ‘Feeling Alright’. But if you’re not, Sydney rising stars Middle Kids will be ‘Doing It Right’, so just take note of them.
There’s no reason to worry that the Friday gig has sold out, as there’s still two other nights of great live music for any music lover to enjoy. On the Saturday night, there’ll be no ‘Catch-22’ when ARIA-nominated favourite Illy hits the stage. If you’re supposed to be working the Saturday night then ‘Quit Your Job’, because you can’t miss Thundamentals after the release of their hip-hop/pop masterpiece Everyone We Know. Sydney duo Spit Syndicate will make sure ‘All Eyes’ are on them, but it won’t be before the crowd ‘Rise’ to Birdz. That’s if Jesswar lets them ‘Stop!’ anyway, which she definitely won’t.
Coming off a big Saturday night? That’s no excuse to miss the star-studded folk line-up on the Sunday evening. Beloved folk-pop singer-songwriter Missy Higgins will heal the ‘Scar’ of an indulgent weekend, with Dustin Tebbutt coming along to mend your ‘Bones’. You may still feel a bit dusty, but by the time All Our Exes Live In Texas perform, you’ll ‘Eventually’ get over it. Prior to that, you’re gonna have to ‘Notify The Lord’ of your misdemeanours and Harry Jakamarra will lend the perfect soundtrack to do so.
You won’t go hungry at A Weekend In The Gardens either, in fact, crowds may struggle to leave The Eatery. A spot for foodies to relax and feast, The Eatery will provide mouth-watering options from Melbourne’s most acclaimed food trucks and operators. There’ll be saliva-inducing choices from Royale Brothers, Willy’s Fried Chicken, American BBQ Smokers, Hermano, Proper Fish & Chips and Señor Churro. I’m drooling at my desk.
Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens have never sounded so good or tasted so delicious! Don’t miss out on your ticket to the event fast becoming a must-do on the city’s concert calendar in undoubtedly the city’s most beautiful setting for a live concert!
