It’s all fun and games until you wake up with one serious post-show hangover. Better known for their heavy Triple J rotation and Top 10 spot on the ARIA charts with their 2012 breakthrough record, In A Million Years, Last Dinosaurs know one or two things about balancing out work and liver function. Having toured Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia for three years, their memories are blurred between music and tacit knowledge, stepping out from the shadows to revitalise their new directions. Currently travelling around Australia for their Miracle Methods tour – plucked from their Matrix-inspired single, ‘Apollo’ – the band are currently travelling along in the aftermath of their 2015 sophomore, Wellness. With their latest single ‘Wurl’ showcasing their glitchy attitudes and late night humour, Sean Caskey has come to save our graces; sharing the current sounds and works that will put you on the golden road of recovery.
Tasty Morsels – ‘Infinite Bisous’
“This song is a little bit of a downer depending on how you look at it, but you gotta start from the bottom and build up. Tasty Morsels gives you a chance to reflect on the substance abuse you put yourself through the night before. (Perfect!) This actually would be the musical equivalent of a comedown, but a beautiful one you never want to end. (Again, WHAT!) The intro is like a vomit sequence emulation; staring at your reflection in the calm water of the toilet, wishing it was a well of Fiji water.”
Orchard Tapes – ‘Foxes In Fiction’
“After Tasty Morsels, this song by Orchard Tapes is like a gentle pat on the head. A lot of music I listen to doesn’t have intense bass or drums, lots of dreamy stuff. Maybe I need to have less hangovers so I can handle the hard stuff.”
Black Marble – ‘A Great Design’
“This is one of my favourite songs at the moment. It is full of feelings of the heart, projected by Black Marble. When listening, I imagine a glider drifting through the clouds. Very soothing, very calm; I like it.”
Bilinda Butchers – Ume ft. Juri Nakashima *LISTEN IN PLAYLIST*
“Gab from Japanese Wallpaper showed me this song as like inspiration for a song we were writing. It was one of those moments where I only heard it for a minute, but I was already absolutely hooked; I just wanted to hear it over and over again. I went home later and listened to it with headphones at night about 50 times and I went Super Sayan for the first time in my measly Sayan life.”
Golden Daze – ‘Never Comin’ Back’
“Ever look outside and it’s later in the day than you want it to be? If this song doesn’t get you out of bed and cleaning up your crime scene of a bedroom then nothing will. You’re doomed, best look at memes.”
TOPS – ‘Ways To Be Loved’
Now your ears have been nurtured back to good health, it’s time for your tum-tum to get some yum-yums. This is the song to get you up in a boogie to the fridge. BTW if you’re actually at yack central from drinking then I strongly suggest you watch any Anthony Bourdain docos. Trust me, I’ve studied this phenomenon for years now. Try this one simple trick! Doctor’s hate him!”
