“Music is about communication, creativity and cooperation. By studying music in school, students have the opportunity to build on these skills, enrich their lives and experience the world from a new perspective.” – President Bill Clinton
The power of music and the arts is lost on no-one. For young people, who possess boundless imagination, expressing themselves through creativity is often a necessity. Since the days of ancient philosophers like Aristotle and Plato, the understanding of the importance of education in music and the rats has been deep-set. Yet, the unfortunate reality is that some education institutions do not possess the staff or resources to have robust arts and music programs on offer for their students.
And that is where The Song Room comes in. The Song Room is a not-for-profit organisation which operates throughout the country. They provide disadvantaged Australian children with specially tailored, high quality music and arts programs which they deliver in partnership with schools. In their own words, The Song Room‘s mission is to “bridge the education equity gap for all Australian children by facilitating learning through the arts, starting with our most vulnerable groups and reaching all communities that lack specialist music and arts education. We want every child to benefit from long-term school music and arts programs.”
The unique programs offered by The Song Room have been proven to advance academic results, increase children’s capacity to concentrate, and increase school attendance – all of which are undeniably positive factors. Here at Speaker TV, we have a huge passion for both music and education – so our partnership with The Song Room on this special fundraising project just makes sense.
Working with Universal Music Australia, Bonnier Publishing, and ABC Music we will be offering a selection of books and CD’s for parents and children in our membership E-Store, with 50% of the profits going directly to The Song Room in order to contribute to the work their doing across the country.
The project is part of our ongoing commitment to education, and community here at Speaker TV. The campaign will be launching on the 1st of August, and you can grab a membership and get involved now by becoming a Speaker TV member.
In support of the campaign, Department of the Future are giving away FREE memberships to allow people to get involved. Use the coupon code songroom2017 at the checkout.
