Students took to the streets of Melbourne in response to the federal budget having confirmed that the government intends to rip off students by charging more for degrees, while also cutting teaching funding to universities. If the proposed reforms go through successfully, there will be an immediate detrimental impact on staff and students, through job losses, bigger class sizes, less course choice, more support services cut and even more employment insecurity.
