Stonnington Jazz 2016 is back for its 11th year with a diverse mix of original, improvised and heritage jazz music. The festival will run from 12 – 22 May, expanding into new spaces in Stonnington and presenting sounds and acts that have never been heard at the festival before, alongside some more familiar faces of the Australian jazz scene.

One of those festival premieres will be Lance Ferguson (The Bamboos, Lanu) unleashing new material from the latest installment of his ‘secret’ three-album series Black Feeling. Released by UK label Freestyle Records, the album is disguised as a crate-diggers compilation of forgotten recordings but in reality is a recording project made here in Melbourne. The albums showcase Lance’s passion for jazz-funk, soul-jazz and Latin rarities.

Backed by an incredible band made up of some of Australia’s finest instrumentalists, Lance, and his band will play tracks from all three albums of Black Feeling to Stonnington Jazz for one dynamite live show.
