On the Friday the 9th of September the annual Expression Fashion Gala is being presented by The City of Stonnington in collaboration with Youth Disability Advocacy Service, Centre for Multicultural Youth, Headspace and The Butterfly Foundation. Expression Fashion Gala is an event that provides young people from the ages of 14 to 25 with the opportunity to showcase their talents in creating fashion.
This is also an event that advocates and celebrates the diversity of culture, language, gender, sexuality, appearance and ability amongst young people in Australia. All of the proceeds of this year’s event will go towards the Youth Disability Advocacy Service, Centre for Multicultural Youth, Headspace and the Butterfly Foundation to help them continue the incredible work they do.
Youth Disability Advocacy Service is an advocacy service for young people in Victoria who have disabilities statewide, whilst the Centre for Multicultural Youth is a not-for-profit organization supporting young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds in Australia. Headspace is a national service for youth mental health and the Butterfly Foundation provides a support network for people who suffer from eating disorders and body image issues.
The theme of Expression Fashion Gala this year is ‘Free to be me’. It will showcase and celebrate people from all different backgrounds and give young people the chance to show their unique talents. This successful event is now in its ninth year, and is sure to showcase some amazing talent and creativity. All guests will be treated to a stunning fashion show including an art exhibition, performances from local musicians and dancers along with a take home goodie bag!
