Australia is a multicultural country. As a migrant nation, our country is filled with different communities and cultures living together and enriching each other. SalamFest is a wonderful opportunity for people from all walks of life to come together, celebrate and learn about other cultures.
Running from 25th– 28th October in Melbourne, SalamFest is a family-friendly festival which captures the true message of Islam, – Peace, Love and Compassion.
The festival will showcase the artistic talents of the 70+ diverse ethnicities represented under the Muslim Umbrella. There will be Whirling Dervishes, Sufi chanting, contemporary Sufi dancing, fusion instrumentals, Rumi recitals, and much more over the 4 days of the festival.
A highlight of the festival will be SalamFeast: Building Bridges By Breaking Bread Together, held at Kensington Town Hall on the 25th of October. Guests will enjoy a lavish buffet feast featuring cuisines from regions of the Muslim world. The dishes will be accompanied by a story, or a take home recipe, and there will be opportunities to meet and mingle with Muslims from these regions.
On 27th of October, Federation Square will be filled with Salamfest events running all day from 10am. People from all walks of life are invited to come and connect with everyday Muslims and learn more about our shared culture.
The aim of this festival is to build bridges and create stronger partnerships based on shared values, and there is no better way to share it than through art and food. Come to any of the SalamFest events to celebrate our Muslim community and our proudly multicultural way of life.
