Melbourne is seriously hallmarking itself as a meeting point between cultures and food. A start-up brand that represents a culmination of history, heartiness and cultural integration, Paisa is the newest addition to the ever-growing marketplace for real, authentic cuisine. While most brands nurture their roots at a distance, Paisa overflows from where it’s sown; championing the connection between Latin-America and Australia.
Created by the Gomez family, Gilma Gomez has dreamed of sharing authentic Colombian flavours to as many people as possible since her arrival in Australia. Now, her family are repaying her support and their own migration by helping her package and distribute that dream with Paisa, a collection of salsa’s that will bring love, zest and spice back to the palate.
To celebrate the launch of Paisa, Colombian Salsa’s made in Melbourne, they are throwing a Latin-Colombia Salsa Party including traditional vallenatos by CumVA, salsa by La 45, DJ’s, special guests and performances. Whether you immerse yourself in Latin-American culture regularly or are curious about the experience, expect to taste new flavours of Colombian cuisine like sancocho, frijole’s, Colombianan style BBQ and much more. While food and music are essential to celebrate the new venture, the event is also proudly supporting the Refuge of Hope: a non-profit organization in partnership with Scanlon Foundation. With their mission to assist the wellbeing of immigrants, refugees and international students from Latin America living in Melbourne, it was only natural that Paisa will donate all profits as an ode to the dream of Colombian-born Gilma Gomez – where immigrants and creating community is the family’s passion.
The event will be held at Malvern Town Hall and deliver one tasty real, Colombian experience. Thanks to Paisa, we have a handful of tickets to giveaway but beware, these are single passes so if you want to bring a friend, ensure they enter in a separate form!
